The Firm’s primary office is located at Via Fratelli Ruspoli, 12, in the prestigious Parioli neighborhood of Rome, an area renowned for its embassies and diplomatic residences, including the American Embassy. Affiliate offices are also established in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. With its extensive international experience, the Firm has successfully represented individual and corporate clients in various civil law matters, not only in Italy but also across Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. A significant portion of the Firm’s practice is dedicated to family law, encompassing divorce, separation, custody, child abduction, alimony, maintenance, and the division and distribution of community assets. Alexander Guttieres’ professional career in Italy dates back to the early 1990s when he became an associate of the renowned Studio Legale Internazionale Mario Guttieres and Laura Remiddi. This association provided invaluable professional experience, allowing him to work on a variety of complex litigation and arbitration proceedings.
Prior to establishing a practice in Italy, Mr. Guttieres maintained his law office in Miami since 1985.
In 2024, the Firm relocated to Via Fratelli Ruspoli, 12, establishing new synergies and solidifying its presence in the heart of Rome.
The Firm’s collaboration with Attorney Laura Remiddi, a former senior partner of Studio Legale Internazionale Mario Guttieres and Laura Remiddi, remains one of its greatest assets. As one of Italy’s most distinguished practitioners in family law, Attorney Remiddi’s expertise and extensive collaboration has been instrumental in resolving complex family disputes, greatly enhancing the Firm’s capabilities in this field.
To maintain the highest professional standards, each new legal matter undergoes a rigorous review process. Alexander Guttieres
(Licensed to practice in the United States and Italy)
Attorney Alexander Guttieres, born in New York, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1981 and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1982. Mr. Guttieres is fluent in English and Italian and is conversant in Spanish, enabling him to effectively serve a diverse, international clientele.
In 1994, Mr. Guttieres obtained a second law degree from the Università La Sapienza di Roma and was admitted to practice law in Italy in 1996. For over a decade, he was associated with the prestigious Studio Legale Internazionale Mario Guttieres & Laura Remiddi which was founded in 1964 by his father, Mario Guttieres, one of Italy’s most esteemed attorneys.
Mr. Guttieres is qualified to practice before Italy's highest court, the Italian Court of Cassation, as well as in U.S. Federal District Courts and Florida State Courts. His dual professional experiences—gained through years of practice in both Italy and the United States—have shaped his expertise as an international attorney. His deep understanding of diverse legal systems, combined with his multicultural background, allows him to provide effective representation in civil claims, family disputes, and commercial transactions involving international issues, or disputes involving Italy and/or the United States.
Throughout his career, Mr. Guttieres has handled technically complex cases, including proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights and international arbitration panels, as well as a variety of commercial ventures and transactions across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
As a family law practitioner, Mr. Guttieres has advised clients worldwide, including public figures involved in high-profile disputes. His extensive experience with both the Anglo-Saxon common law system and the European civil law system uniquely positions him to address the needs of international clients. His ability to communicate fluently in multiple languages further enhances his capacity to provide comprehensive legal counsel.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Guttieres has lectured extensively at numerous universities, international conferences and symposiums. He has also served as a legal consultant for NBC News and other leading television broadcasters in the United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
Giovanni De Simone
Attorney Giovanni De Simone was born in Biberach an der Riss, Germany on Jan. 6, 1978. He graduated from law school at the University of Rome, “La Sapienza” in 2003, and has been licensed to practice law in Italy since 2008. He has be a trusted and loyal associate of the firm since it was founded.
Throughout his association with G & G, Mr. De Simone has demonstrated uncanny legal abilities and extraordinary professional skills and dedication that are uncommon for a lawyer with his years of experience. As an extremely reliable, and trustworthy professional, who approaches the client’s needs with empathy and understanding, while thoroughly reaching and preparing assigned to him, Atty. De Simone is an extremely valuable asset to the firm.
Mr. De Simone’s has gained extensive experience while with the firm has forged him into a most effective and competent attorney in the areas of litigation and alternate dispute resolution proceedings in various areas of civil law, including family law, tort liability, breach of contracts, as well as trusts and estates.
Laura Remiddi
Attorney Laura Remiddi was born and lives in Rome. She graduated cum laude from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1963 and is licensed to practice law in Italy since 1966. Ms. Remiddi is prevalently a civil attorney, in particular in the field of family law and international private law. She has been practicing for many years from her office in Rome, in Via Barberini 3, which is located in the same premises as the International Law Offices of Guttieres & Grillandini with which it collaborates in the more complex matters of family law. Her great professional experience and uncanny legal skills have proven invaluable to in the countless occasion that she has collaborated with G & G.
Since the sixties, Atty. Remiddi has participated in the League for the Creation of divorce and various other research and study groups that address issues of women’s rights, of equal opportunity, and of equal rights within the context of the family nucleus. Ms. Remiddi has made countless contributions to various scientific and political group, parliamentarians, and political parties aimed at legal reform in matters relating to abortion, prevention of sexual m crimes, adoption, citizenship, and in the laws regulating separation and divorce.
From 1984 to 1990 she was a member of the National Commission for the Realization of Equality between Man and Woman created by the Council of the Prime Minister. In said capacity, she coordinated the working groups “Women and the Law” and “Women and the Institutions”. Subsequently, Ms. Remiddi continued to collaborate with said Commission as an expert.
Atty. Remiddi frequently writes articles for newspaper and periodical, and has published several books on matters relating to women’s rights; She lectures frequently in conferences and symposiums, and is often a guest speaker on television and radio programs as an expert in matters relating to legal rights of women, family law, the rights of minors, and other legally related topics.
